Old Schoolers Week 2 Update
It's all over and the kids have headed home but here's the week 2 update anyway.
We got the power tools out and got busy building some new stairs at the put in to the Upper Fraser. It's still pretty slippery below the new stairs but they are a great start. From there we got a few runs on the Fraser including a trip down the Canyon at around 55 cms. The Upper was good to us at 70 and the Old Schoolers got to see what the Fraser has to offer with a decent amount of water in it. To up the gnar factor on the trip we made a little trip to the South Fork of the Dore River. We spent a lovely 6 hours weaving out way down through the canyons, class IV drops and log jams in the bottom of this really beautiful valley. Undoubtedly, all the kids were beat at the end of the day and I wasn't far behind. Nachos on the BBQ hit the spot and the comic entertainment took a turn for the better when Liam landed butt first in a cow pie, haha.
The Clearwater River was warm, as always, and the waves were sweet. Pink Mountain was certainly not at its prime but it was super fun to surf a big, fast wave in the sunshine. The work that the kids have been putting in this Summer certainly showed in their rides. Liam fired a few blunts and Ethan was doing all kinds of cool things that I've never really seen before. We worked on the tuck and duck through the foam pile on Pink Mountain and there were plenty of wave wheels busted out on the rest of the run. My scooter lmost didn't survive the washboard shuttle road and may need some new parts pretty quick. All in all, the Clearwater was a super awesome stop. Once we were done there we headed back to Mt. Robson to get ready for the Ninja Invitational. Check out the photos from week 2 here.
